Opening the year’s account of Baby Mamas is the duo of Peter Okoye of the P Square fame and their estranged protégé, Akinmayokun Awodumila popularly known as May D. They were recently in the news for welcoming new born babies into their homes and lives.
Having monitored the trend for so long, EE has decided to take you into the world of the little known Baby Mamas of some of your favourite music stars and why most of them may not walk down the aisle with their famous partners.
Lola Omotayo/Peter Okoye

Despite giving birth first in 2011 for Peter Okoye’s first son, Cameron, the Ondo State-born beauty is yet to walk down the aisle with her famous lover. However, there are those who believe that the two lovebirds have a secret pact to remain live-in lovers.
Recently, Omotayo who is older than Peter gave birth to their second child, a baby girl they have already christened Aliona, in the USA, the same country where Cameron was born. Peter Okoye, the other half of the P Square duo has over the years shied away from the question of marriage, for reasons which are unknown but there are indications that there is plan for him to get married the same day with his brother, Paul who is not yet ready despite rumour of his own girlfriend being heavily pregnant.
Pero Adeniyi/Tuface Idibia
Many were and are still shocked that she didn’t end up as Mrs. Idibia, by virtue of the fact that she has the highest number of kids, three, for the African Queen crooner. While still heavy with his sixth child then, the music star in what came as a sudden shock to the public proposed to his youngest baby mama, Annie Macaulay, thus leaving Pero and her kids shattered and devastated.
Sumbo Ajaba/ Tuface Idibia
Though she was overlooked in the race for who becomes Mrs. Idibia, despite being the mother of the first child of the famous musician. The event centre owner and manager has given Tuface Idibia two kids. From the look of things, she seems to have put the Tuface marriage drama behind her as it was recently reported that she was set to marry one Pastor Adeoye, the general overseer of Royalty Christian Centre, where she is a revered chorister in the church’s choir.
Ngohide Ruby Ann Gyanggyan/Jesse Jagz
When she was unveiled as one of the signings to MI’s Loppy Records, many didn’t know their relationship exceeded music. Ruby, a mother of one is Jesse Jagz’s baby mama. The talented rapper/singer is MI’s younger brother and the brothers have known Ruby since their childhood as the singer is very much close to the Abaga’s family. The singer met the Abaga brothers back in Jos in the church choir where MI was the music director. Jesse Jagz and Ruby have a seven-year old daughter, Jade. Jesse Jagz, a proud and committed father has often talked about his daughter in his songs, most especially on the song entitled “This Jagged Life.” The couple isn’t dating anymore but those close to them said they remain close friends and are jointly raising the fruit of their union.
Adebola Olowoporoku /May D
Former Square Records singer, May D has joined the ever-expanding list of baby fathers outside wedlock in the Nigerian music industry. Akinmayokun Awodumila popularly known as May D joined the fatherhood club just last week when his girlfriend of five years, Debola gave birth to a baby boy. Adebola Olowoporoku who is also a model flaunts the tattoo of her lover’s name on her back.
Babatunde Bimbo/ Ice Prince
20-year old Babatunde Bimbo hit the news last year after she confessed to carrying the child of Nigerian rap star, Ice Prince Zamani. Despite the several denials and rejections that trailed her announcement, the former undergraduate had to drop out of school to keep the pregnancy. The baby was christened Toluwalase. Ice Prince, who initially distanced himself from mum and child, later admitted in an interview to being the father. In a sudden twist of event, Ice Prince embraced his child and re-named him Jamal Zamani. The hardworking rapper is gradually introducing the baby to his fans. He recently celebrated his son’s birthday and posted online another photo of a birthday card and cake he received with the caption ‘For you dad, on your birthday.’
Barbra/Timaya
Pop singer Timaya welcomed his first child- a baby girl in May last year but the identity of his baby mama however remained a secret. It was however revealed that the lady who stole Timaya’s heart is a singer-cum-budding actress who is simply known as Barbra. The dark-skinned lady who is in her 20s met Timaya in 2010. Timaya whose real name is Enetimi Odom named his daughter Emmanuella Perere Timaya. It was gathered that Timaya put Barbra and Emmanuella in an apartment in the heart of Ikeja and bought her a GL 450 Benz, valued at about N13m, the question of when he is going to give her the ring has however not been cleared by the self-styled ‘Egberipapa 1’ of Bayelsa State.
Mimi Omoregbe/Terry G
The Benue State-born singer and his UK-based fiancée have a son together which was delivered in the UK sometimes last year. After proposing to his lover shortly before she gave birth, news later filtered that the Gingah master secretly carried out a traditional wedding with Mimi. A story that neither Terry G nor his management confirmed or denied.
Victoria Olubulola/9ice
After his much publicized marriage split from showbiz personality Toni Payne, it was learnt that 9ice secretly started an affair with an unknown Abuja-based woman. However, much has not been heard about Victoria Olubulola Goddies who reportedly gave birth to twins for the Gongo Aso crooner.
The mystery woman who many have pointed accusing fingers at as the cause of the separation between the Oyo State-born crooner and his former wife Toni Payne, is yet to be seen in public with the singer. Toni Payne is known for throwing jibes once in a while at her husband’s other baby mama by making some controversial comments via the social networking site, Twitter. “Some people are so stupid. You have an affair with a married man, he throws his wife and son out in the dead of the night and you think Karma won’t get you, lmao” she once tweeted.
Annie Macualy/Tuface Idibia
She seems to have won the heart of the singer after he publicly proposed to her on Valentine Day in 2012. After losing her first pregnancy for the African Queen crooner under controversial circumstances, the music star made his intention of making her his baby mama known by making sure she became pregnant again, after which she was flown to faraway United States of America for her delivery. The fruit of their union is pretty Isabella, a spit image of her mother.
